Marvin Johnson, Chairman of the Board

Born in southeastern North Carolina in 1926, Marvin grew up during the depression years in a hard-working, close rural family. In 1936, his father, Nash, built his first turkey hatchery. From these beginnings, the business has expanded to what is now House of Raeford Farms. Marvin married Grace Powell in 1951 and together they raised four children. He now has 12 grandchildren. Known for his keen and visionary insight, use of good common sense, wit and humor, Marvin is revered as an honest and remarkable entrepreneur of our time. He has served the industry as past president of the North Carolina Poultry Federation, the Southeastern Poultry and Egg Association, and the National Turkey Federation.


Robert Johnson, Chief Executive Officer & President

Bob Johnson is the son of House of Raeford Farms' founder Marvin Johnson and currently serves as CEO and President of the company.  In recent years, he has been part of  the largest expansion in company history and has helped House of Raeford become one of the 10 largest producers in the poultry industry.  The organization also ranks as the fifth largest revenue producing company in North Carolina.   Bob has taken an active leadership role in the poultry industry serving on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Poultry Federation, the National Chicken Council, and the International Poultry and Egg Association.  He also strongly believes in giving back to the communities where House of Raeford has operations through monetary and product donations as well as personal involvement.  As part of this outreach, and in memory of his son Will, Bob and his wife Luanne joined with family and friends to create Living Will Ministries dedicated to bringing youth and people of our nation to a personal salvation experience with Jesus Christ through music, testimony, and God’s word.


Donald Taber, President, Cooked Products Group

Don has bottom-line management responsibility for all aspects of the Cooked Products Group.  This includes a mini-corndog plant in Hemingway, SC; the cook plant in Raeford, NC; and the recently acquired cook plant in Mocksville, NC scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2014.  A graduate of Florida State University, he has industry experience in chicken, turkey, and further processing operations gained while working in positions of increasing responsibility with Cargill, Foster Farms, and House of Raeford, where he previously served as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to rejoining House of Raeford, he spent twelve years as president of an R&D firm providing technology integration and strategic planning services to red meat, poultry, and further processing operations throughout the US and Canada. Don is married with three children.


Ken Qualls, Chief Financial Officer

Ken, a 30+ year veteran of the poultry industry is the Chief Financial Officer. In this position, Ken directs the activities of the accounting, treasury, credit, strategic planning, benchmarking, risk management and corporate administration functions for the company. Ken joined House of Raeford in January of 2003 as the Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning and has also served as the Complex Manager for the Arcadia, Louisiana operation. Prior to joining House of Raeford, Ken held various positions in accounting, sales and operations for ConAgra, International Paper Company, Townsends Inc., Crossmark and AgriStats. Ken has a BA in Accounting from Lyon College and is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to completing his degree at Lyon College, Ken attended Central Arkansas University on a basketball scholarship. Ken has three daughters and three grandchildren.
