Where: Shreveport, LA
What: The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana aims to end hunger in the Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River and Desoto parishes. Being the largest distributer of donated food in its area, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is effectively networking, distributing and providing necessary resources to those in need.
How: After becoming an affiliate for Feeding America in 2003, just six years after its birth, the food bank now reaches more than 130 non-profit organizations, shelters and churches in the region. The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana utilizes these partner organizations to distribute food, operate satellite pantries and prepare meals. Last year alone, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana distributed 9 million pounds to 75,000 people in need.
How FLOCK Supports:
House of Raeford Farms FLOCK is happy to support the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana in its fight to end hunger, providing product donations throughout the year. FLOCK offers hands on support during the holiday season. During the holidays, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana puts together packages of food to donate to local families. FLOCK provides donations of chicken, as well as support in the packing and delivering the food to ensure that fewer families go hungry during the holidays.
“We have a great partnership with The House of Raeford staff; the donations they give are so meaningful to our clients and to us. The majority of the donations are protein, which are very valuable here at the food bank because they are expensive to buy, and hard for us to obtain. One of the main reasons we work with FLOCK is because of their dedication to help the citizens in our community that fall below poverty level.” — Martha Marak, Executive Director Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana
